Abstract: With increasing demand and costs for SPED services, district leaders are seeking new ways to deploy their teams more efficiently. Now, innovative SPED leaders are deploying a "blended" model for related services delivery, combining both online and school-based speech-language therapists. They're getting promising results: improved student outcomes, tighter integration of SPED with gen ed, and more efficient use of their valuable on-the-ground SLP team members. Join a national audience of SPED leaders for a free one-hour moderated Q&A with a panel of creative SPED directors who are leading the way by teaming on-site staff with online therapists to create more efficient ways to serve exceptional students.

June 27 - 10am

Data reveals poorer health outcomes for rural Virginia populations than for their urban counterparts. Unfortunately, if you are a minority living in rural Virginia, your health outcomes are worse yet. During this webinar presenters will discuss minority health in rural Virginia and how telehealth has been used successfully throughout the nation as one strategic solution for overcoming barriers and improving health outcomes for rural residents.

Telehealth is the use of technology to deliver health care, health information or health education at a distance.  Some common applications of telehealth include the use of video-conferencing for real-time patient-provider consultations such as with tele-psychiatry, telestroke, teledentistry and telepractice (speech therapy); the use of video-streaming to provide patient and provider education such as diabetes education; the use of mobile devices to monitor and transmit patient data to caregivers and health care providers (commonly referred to as remote patient monitoring) for chronic disease management and to facilitate aging in place; and the electronic transmission of pre-recorded videos and digital images (x-rays, mammograms, skin lesions, retinal scans) between health care providers.
